- More than 30 Sanford students in grades seven through twelve are winners in this year’s regional Scholastic Art Awards competition.
- The Delaware Foundation for the Visual Arts (DFVA) selected drawings created by two Sanford students for publishing in the 2010 DFVA Calendar.
- A Lower School student was one of four regional finalists in 2009 Doodle 4 Google contest. She visited the Google headquarters in NYC to participate in the awards ceremony.
- The artwork of 10 Upper School students were accepted last spring to participate in the juried student art show at The Big Picture. A junior Sanford Honors student won first place.

Artwork created by 4 US students was selected for an exhibition at the Biggs museum.

10 students exhibited at a juried show in Hockessin, resulting in 3 awards including 1st place.

Recent community outreach activities include: DE Hospice Tree display, donation of a painted chair to the Ministry of Caring auction, and the creation of coloring books and gathering of art supplies to send to the children of Haiti.

The National Art Education Association (NAEA) has selected Sanford faculty member Nina Silverman as the Delaware Middle School Art Educator of the Year for 2009. Meg Fierro and Betty O'Regan are both, past recipients of the Delaware Art Educators of the Year awards.
