VISUAL ARTS MISSION STATEMENT Sanford students build visual literacy skills and self-confidence through a multifaceted interplay of different media, styles, techniques, and processes in the creation of their artwork. During their experience as art students, they are able to understand the historical and cultural context of art in addition to making connections between visual arts and other disciplines. Students use a wide range of subject matter, symbols, meaningful images and visual expressions as they describe and broaden their personal worlds. The students are involved in art as viewers, creators, and participants. Exploring, discovering, problem-solving, and informed decision-making expand their creativity and critical thinking skills. |
